The schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiases (STHs) research theme aims to pool and make available Individual Patient Data (IPD) from all available studies to address knowledge gaps and improve treatment outcomes for people affected by these diseases.
About schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiases (STHs)

Schistosomiasis and STHs are caused by parasitic worms. More than one billion people are affected globally. These diseases cause chronic health and development problems including abdominal pain, anaemia, malnutrition and stunted growth in children as well as rarer and more serious complications.

Schistosomiasis and STHs research theme

By amalgamating and standardising available individual patient data, the utility of existing resources can be maximised to address priority questions on the treatment of schistosomiasis and STHs, to develop consensus on data standards for data curation and harmonisation, and to make research progress more efficient.
