Elfatih Mohamed Malik is a medical doctor (MBBS, MD, FPH-UK) and specialist in public health. He works as a GHD/EMPHNET consultant for Event-based Surveillance (EBS) in Sudan since April 2021 and is the Sudan focal point for the joint research project with LSTM called CEASE project targeting An. stephensi in Ethiopia and Sudan.
Elfatih Malik is recognised as an epidemiologist and a disease control specialist with special interest in malaria epidemiology and control. He worked with WHO Office in Khartoum as a malaria coordinator for a short time; was a member of the “WHO Malaria Policy Advisory Committee” for 3 years and a “Member of The Global Fund Technical review Panel” as a malaria specialist. He acted as a Technical Advisor for the Sudan Field Epidemiology Training Programme- Sudan FETP for 3 years which ended in 2020. He was contracted by the WHO to carry out Sudan Malaria Indicator Survey (2016), Sudan Malaria Progarmme Review (2017), Sudan Malaria Strategic Plan (2017, 2020), and a Somalia Malaria Programme Review (2019-2020).
As a Coordinator of the Sudan Malaria Control programme (2001-2007), Elfatih Malik and his team established a system for conducting operational research. Many of them get published in peer reviewed journals. To date, Elfatih Malik has over 80 publications with considerable citation; a factor that considered by the AD Science index in 2022. He is a reviewer for many journals as well.
