Dr Rob Commons is an Infectious Diseases Physician in Ballarat, Australia and a Senior Research Fellow at the Menzies School of Health Research, Charles Darwin University in Darwin, Australia. His PhD, which he completed in 2019, investigated primaquine as a radical cure for Plasmodium vivax malaria in collaboration with WWARN. He was supervised by Menzies researchers, Professor Ric Price and Dr Kamala Thriemer and Professor Julie Simpson from The University of Melbourne. He continues to research ways to improve vivax radical cure, including undertaking large pooled individual patient data meta-analyses with WWARN to examine the efficacy and safety of different primaquine doses.
