Work has begun with the Chagas research community to build a data platform for the collation and standardisation of individual patient data (IPD) from clinical studies to address knowledge gaps and improve treatment outcomes for people affected by Chagas disease.
About Chagas Disease

Chagas disease, also known as American Trypanosomiasis, is a neglected disease caused by the Trypanosoma cruzi parasite. It is endemic in Latin America with increased migration contributing to rising patient numbers in non-endemic countries. Chagas disease has a high burden of morbidity and mortality affecting approximately 6–7 million people worldwide.

Our work on Chagas disease

Development of the Chagas platform will aim to amalgamate and standardise available individual patient data to enable optimisation of existing data and more in-depth analyses. This will help strengthen evidence for the treatment and diagnosis of Chagas disease and create a framework to inform prospective data collection and make research progress more efficient.
