Professor Webster is Chair in Parasitic Diseases, Director of the Centre for Emerging, Endemic and Exotic Diseases (CEEED) at the Royal Veterinary College, Honorary Professor at Imperial College London and Associate Director of the London Centre for Neglected Tropical Disease Research (LCNTDR).

Joanne is a member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Schistosomiasis Guideline Development Group (GDG) and WHO Drug efficacy working groups. She also serves on the Executive/Management Boards of the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI), the London International Development Centre (LIDC), and on the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BCSRC) I-FILIP panel. Joanne’s more than 150 research papers on host-parasite interactions, infection, epidemiology and control have attracted numerous awards and she is recognised as a leading global authority on parasitic diseases, including schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiases.
