Piyanan Assawasuwannakit is a Senior Scientist in Pharmacometrics at Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU). She is originally from Thailand and joined MORU in September 2022.

Her area of research is to use pharmacometric approaches to optimise and individualise dosing regimens in patients. This involves population pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modelling and simulations where different patient characteristics and variability are accounted for.

Piyanan received a BPharm at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. She further pursued postgraduate studies and received a Ph.D. in Pharmacometrics from University of Otago, New Zealand.

Piyanan joined MORU as a postdoctoral researcher. She then continued a postdoctoral researcher role at the Pharmacometrics Research Group, Uppsala University. Her PhD research looked at an approach to investigate and quantify forgiving drugs to imperfect adherence to maintain therapeutic success. Her postdoctoral research includes methodology development for bioequivalence studies for long-acting injections as well as modelling and simulations in tropical diseases. She currently continues her research in tropical and neglected diseases.
