IDDO is working with the visceral leishmaniasis (VL) research community to collate global data and deliver robust science to address knowledge gaps and save lives with better treatment.
About VL

Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is caused by a vector-born protozoan parasite. It is a debilitating, and if left untreated, fatal neglected tropical disease (NTD) causing an estimated 50,000 to 90,000 infections per year in poverty-stricken populations.

VL research theme

IDDO provides an opportunity for VL researchers to pool data from different VL clinical trials in order to enhance the statistical power of the available data. A large pooled dataset will be more effective in determining optimal dose ranges and will provide a deeper insight into VL characteristics.
